In an industry where trust is often in short supply, Robby Duncan has spent nearly two decades proving that relationships are just as important as roofs.
When homeowners first meet Robby Duncan, many have the same reaction.
“You’re not what I expected a roofer to look like.”
That’s exactly the point.
Whether he’s arriving in a crisp Tommy Bahama shirt, greeting a homeowner with a warm smile, or helping a customer solve a problem that has absolutely nothing to do with roofing, Robby has built a career by refusing to fit the mold. Now, after completing more than 4,000 roofing projects and becoming one of the most recognized names in North Texas roofing, he’s bringing his unique approach to Texas Roofing Specialists as the company’s new leader in sales and customer relations.
For Robby, the move isn’t simply a career change. It’s the next chapter in a lifetime devoted to service.
A Sales Career Built on Relationships
Long before he ever climbed onto a roof, Robby spent his formative years in the automotive industry with Sewell Cadillac, one of the most respected customer-service organizations in America.
The lessons he learned there would shape everything that followed.
“Sewell taught me that service is more important than the product,” Robby says. “If I was delivering pizzas, I’d want to be the best pizza delivery person in town. It’s not about what you’re selling—it’s about how you treat people.”
That philosophy has remained remarkably consistent throughout a career spanning nearly 50 years in sales.
After college, Robby sold women’s shoes. Then came automobiles. In 2008, he made what many considered an unlikely transition into roofing. At the time, he was hesitant. The roofing industry carried a reputation for high-pressure sales tactics, storm chasers, and questionable ethics.
But Robby saw an opportunity.
“I realized nobody was bringing a relationship-based model to roofing,” he says. “I knew if I treated people the way I’d always treated customers, I’d stand out.”
He was right.
The Roofer People Call for Everything
Over the years, Robby has become far more than a roofing contractor to thousands of North Texas homeowners.
He’s become a trusted advisor.
A sounding board.
Sometimes even a problem solver for issues completely unrelated to roofing.
One homeowner called him late on a Saturday night about a honeybee infestation in her attic. Another elderly customer called because she needed help arranging transportation to return a rental car. Robby handled both requests with the same urgency he would a roofing emergency.
Those stories have become legendary among his clients.
His reasoning is simple.
“When someone trusts you, that trust shouldn’t have boundaries,” he says.
That commitment to service has created extraordinary loyalty. Many of Robby’s customers have hired him multiple times over the years— often because they remembered the time he helped them when nobody else would.
He routinely performs minor repairs at no charge, replacing missing shingles or addressing small issues without expecting anything in return.
Months or years later, many of those same homeowners call him when it’s time for a full roof replacement.
Not just because of the roof.
Because of the relationship.
Success Through Reputation
In an industry often driven by door-knocking and aggressive sales tactics, Robby has built his success almost entirely through referrals and reputation.
The results speak for themselves.
In Trophy Club alone, following major storm activity in 2023 and 2024, Robby completed approximately 600 roofing projects, accounting for an estimated 65 percent of all residential roofing permits issued in the community.
In 2024, he generated nearly $9 million in roofing sales.
Yet he insists those numbers are simply the byproduct of doing things the right way.
“You can only fool people for so long,” he says. “Eventually your reputation catches up with you—either positively or negatively.”
For Robby, professionalism is a competitive advantage.
He pays attention to details many overlook: how he dresses, how he communicates, how he approaches a homeowner for the first time. Every interaction is designed to create confidence and comfort.
Rather than using scripted sales language, he focuses on authentic conversations. Instead of pushing for a decision, he seeks to earn trust.
His customers often decide long before they receive a proposal.
They simply know they’ve found the right person.
Ethics Matter
Robby is also known for his unwavering commitment to integrity.
He has spent years educating homeowners about insurance fraud and openly challenging unethical practices that have become common in parts of the roofing industry.
One issue he speaks about frequently is deductible fraud—when contractors promise homeowners they won’t have to pay their insurance deductible.
“It’s illegal,” Robby says bluntly. “And it’s wrong.”
His reputation for honesty has earned the respect of homeowners, insurance professionals, and adjusters throughout North Texas.
Many know that if Robby says something happened on a roof, it happened.
That credibility has become one of his most valuable assets.
More Than a Roof
Ask Robby what separates him from other roofing professionals and he’ll tell you it has very little to do with roofing.
His goal is not simply to replace a roof.
It’s to improve a home.
Over the years, he has paid for countless upgrades out of his own pocket—refinishing a front door, touching up paint, improving curb appeal, or addressing small details homeowners never expected him to handle.
He doesn’t advertise those efforts.
Most customers don’t even know he’s doing them.
He simply believes every project should leave a home looking better than it did before.
“If my name is attached to it, I want it to be right,” he says.
A New Chapter with Texas Roofing Specialists
Now Robby is bringing that same philosophy to Texas Roofing Specialists.
The move represents more than a business opportunity. It represents alignment with a team that shares his values of service, quality, transparency, and long-term relationships.
While he is a partner in the company, Robby prefers not to focus on titles.
Ask what his role is and he’ll simply tell you:
“I’m in sales.”
Or perhaps more accurately:
“I’m here to take care of people.”
As a seasoned professional, Robby remains as competitive and passionate as ever. He still thrives on outperforming competitors, building relationships, and earning the trust of homeowners one conversation at a time.
His motivation isn’t money.
It’s legacy.
It’s hearing from someone who says, “I’ve never met you, but everyone told me you’re the person to call.”
For Robby, that’s the ultimate measure of success.
And as Texas Roofing Specialists continues to grow across North Texas, homeowners can expect the same thing that has defined his entire career:
A commitment to service that goes far beyond the roof over their heads.
Because for Robby Duncan, roofing has never really just been about roofing.
It’s always been about people.
